Navigating relationships with a chronic illness can be tricky   GET BACK IN CONTROL →

The truth is you feel stuck, stressed out and frustrated. You aren't really living, and you certainly aren't loving your life.

When is it going to get any easier?

Are you ready to gain control of your chronic condition once and for all?

The truth is many of us feel stuck, stressed out, frustrated, tired, and overwhelmed and dealing with a health condition on top of that can be the straw that breaks the camels back.

Even with new symptoms like increased pain or fatigue you may try to carry on in the same way that you always have, expecting everything to be OK – then wonder why it isn’t.

You can wake up feeling defeated before you’ve begun.

You are drained emotionally as well as physically.

You aren’t really LIVING, and you certainly aren’t LOVING your life.

Do any of these apply to you?

  • NYou look Ok but you certainly don’t feel it and get fed up trying to explain what it is like to people that don’t seem to understand
  • NYou feel like you are missing out on the life you had planned
  • NYou place really high expectations on yourself and exhaust yourself tyring to meet them
  • NYou feel guilty, a little angry, very frustrated – because you’re body has let you down this way and you are in this situation
  • NYou feel like there is a constant fight between what you want to do and what you can actually manage to do
  • NThe future feels scary and uncertain
  • NLife is continually throwing you one setback after another

Would’t this be great?

Empowered

YOU just want life to feel easier and dare I say more ‘normal’

To love your life and look after your health without so much of the worry.

For life to feel easy.

To get a good balance so that you can love your life and look after your health and dare I say even have a social life again

Manage self care without pushing and finally give yourself the permission to rest

Say goodbye to guilt so that you can look after yourself well and care for those around you

To meet your own needs consistently so that you have more energy for the things that bring you joy and refuel you.

Be kinder to yourself

To know that you are amazing but you don’t have to be superhuman everyday

To come to terms with your condition and what that means for your life and future

To feel calmer and know that you can manage flares or setbacks with ease

….and so much more!

You have too much power to be a victim to your chronic illness.

I understand what it is like to feel exhausted, depleted and in pain every day.

With two chronic illness diagnosis under my belt, you can safely say that I have been there and got the T shirt.

I have learnt to navigate the turbulent waters of diagnosis, got my head around what my diagnoses’ mean, and I have learnt to live with them… and dare I say thrive within my new normal.

I felt the totally bloody overwhelmed when I was first diagnosed followed by waves of guilt, frustration, anger and loss.  I was confused (and annoyed) by the conflicting advice that seemed to be everywhere. I tried everything and nothing seemed to work, which just left me more exhausted and feeling like a failure.

Until I took the time to work out what mattered to me, what I needed and stopped feeling like I was playing Russian roulette with my health and happiness.

Having a proper plan, and inside out approach and the right people my corner was so bloody important.

Raised hand with writing on the palm saying OK?

It’s not that you…

  • ^Don't have enough hours in the day
  • ^Need to wait until you have everything else figured out
  • ^Aren't ready
  • ^Aren't good enough
  • ^Need to research one more thing

It’s because don’t know what you don’t know, and it feels really hard and lonely to do it on your own.

You need three things, an acceptance of where you are right now, the support to get under the hood of what is holding you back and the ability to act on all that knowledge…

To be in action.

You have the power within you to finally feel in control of your chronic condition and deal with setbacks with calmness and confidence.

To not only to live with your health condition but to learn to begin to thrive again.

But, this doesn’t start by googling more information or keeping your fingers crossed that the next doctor that you see will have all of the answers.

In an age where information is at our very fingertips 24/7 I’m going to let you into a little secret… understanding everything that there is to know about your condition won’t solve it.  You must do something with that knowledge. To take action.

That’s where most people get stuck.

I believe that you have all the tools that you need to live well with your chronic condition and to work with your doctors to maximise your health and wellbeing. You just might not realise it yet 😉

This programme will show you how.

“Talking with Sarah is like catching up with an old friend, and she is the best cheerleader cheering you on to a better place.”

When I first came to Sarah, I thought I had a hold of my mental and physical well-being, however she introduced me to new concepts to keep my me in check. Pacing, maintaining my window of tolerance, understanding hypoarousal, and giving my inner child forgiveness are just a few of the concepts that gave me more insight, purpose and control in my chronic illness life. It didn’t matter what we talked about in our sessions, Sarah had the practices to apply and she gave me the encouragement to succeed. Talking with Sarah is like catching up with an old friend, and she is the best cheerleader cheering you on to a better place. I highly recommend Sarah as a life coach and advocate in your healthcare team.”

My coaching sessions with Sarah have left me feeling refreshed and full of positive energy.

I’ve gained lots of insights and ideas and have taken some useful practical steps.  Swapping the daily abstract panic and stress I felt about my need to return to work for a well-formed outcome focused on what I want to achieve for myself and my family feels really liberating and has opened up lots of possibilities in my mind. The practice of identifying and reflecting on what I want, and when I want it, has helped massively – paying attention to this as I go about my day to day is helping me to manage distractions and make decisions about how to use my time. “

“Sarah has been a warm, friendly, and incredible support to me…

especially as I returned to work full-time after a long period of illness. She allowed me to see where I needed to take a step back and re-evaluate my goals and values, and breathe when I started feeling overwhelmed. It was perfect timing for this new transition. She really has a multitude of techniques and I totally recommend her insight.”

It should be easy, right?

You have a chronic health condition so you probably have more time on your hands that most people to figure this stuff out…

And with everything online now, all the information is at your finger tips, you just need to google it…

Gosh, you live with this everyday so you are already the expert…

25% of the UK has a chronic condition so you are not alone!

If that is the case, why is living with a chronic condition so damn isolating?

Why do you feel like no one understands and you haven’t got a clue where to start?

Where is the life you dreamed of?

Why can’t you just stop wishing life was like it was before?

I strongly believe that we shouldn’t have to figure it all out on our own.

There is a real gap in services when it comes to empowering people to manage their chronic condition in the UK.

I see this play out every day in my family and with my clients.

I spent years trying to figure it all out for myself, learning to recognise the subtle symptoms so that I could prevent the crashes, to undo the coping mechanisms that I had taught myself to survive and to understand the domino effect health often takes with chronic illness.

The big change came for me when I learned to accept my chronic illness and disability and to manage and face up to all the thoughts and emotions that I had been hiding from.

I connected again with the things that brought me happiness and joy. I got a handle on the things that I could control and let go of the things that I couldn’t.  So that I felt in charge of my destination again.

I reconnected with my body instead of constantly fighting with it or pushing away the symptoms (game changer right here)!

I built stronger relationships with family, friends and medical professionals and most importantly with myself.

I began to look at life in a totally different way and can now look back on my younger self with compassion and the utmost respect.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have a question?

Check out the answers to the most commonly asked questions below… got any more? Just book a call and I can answer them.

What is a life coach?
A life coach helps you establish a plan to move you closer to your goal, helps you track your progress, and hold you accountable to take courageous action.

Reaching goals doesn’t happen overnight. It takes clear strategy, hard work, and patience. But trying to reach a goal without support can be overwhelming and lonely.

Imagine having the accountability, resources, and a best friend by your side  (that’s me) to help you to reach your most meaningful goals in half the time and effort and to become calm, connected and in control of your chronic illness?

Who do you work with?
I work with women (and the occasional man) with long term or chronic illness and help them to take control of their life and their health.

These people are from all walks of life, homemakers, business leaders, other coaches and students.

I help them get in control of pain and fatigue, manage symptoms, re-connect with who they are, regain a sense of balance in their life, increase their confidence, learn to connect with their emotions, befriend and attend to their own nervous system and feel in control of their lives and where they are heading.

If long term illness is not part of your life and feel we could be a good fit?  Get in touch and we’ll have a chat and see if I can help you.

What happens if I can't make a session
Hey, I understand that chronic illness is unpredictable and the journey to wellness is not without its bumps in the road.

I have a 24 hour cancellation policy where you can log in and rebook at a time that suits you better.

If it’s less that 24 hours this option will not be available but you can give me a call or email and we can discuss if it is possible to rebook the session.

How do sessions take place?
All sessions will take place over zoom.  You will need to download the zoom app prior to your first session and have access to a reliable internet connection. You may also need a pen and paper hand.  Alternatively sessions can take place over the telephone
How long does coaching continue for?
That depends on where you are in life, where you want to go, and how quickly you want to get there.

There’s no right or wrong time frame for life coaching. Some clients achieve their goals in as little as four months; others stay with a coach anywhere from six to eighteen months.

After clients realise their first goals, they often identify other areas they want to work on. Lots of my clients have monthly sessions after the initial programme is complete to keep on track with their goals.

The coaching relationship can continue as long as there is benefit to the client.

Do I really have time for coaching
Absolutely! Life coaching sessions are conducted on Zoom so they are super convenient to you. Typically I see people for an hour a week, but this is very flexible.

The real question is do you want to invest in yourself?

It's expensive, can I afford it?
I get it, you are not buying a new car or booking a holiday where there is instant gratification or something to look forward to.

This may not feel like that and that is OK. The problem that you want to solve most likely out of your comfort zone, or you would have it figured out by now.

Coaching, will push you right out of your comfort zone and that may feel uncomfortable but the alternative is staying safely where you are (at least you know what to expect there right? even if it’s frustrating).  But I’ll let you into a little secret, no change will happen.

The person that you will become in a year from now would hire me. Working with me is an investment in your future and to do that you need the courage to step out of your comfort zone and do the work.

The decision may feel uncomfortable because it requires to be brave and to be bold. That doesn’t always feel good. But the end result does.

The question really is what price would you put on your health and happiness?
